Sunny Ayrshire - part 1

Last week saw us go on our [fast becoming] annual caravan holiday.  Whilst I understand the sudden shudder from the masses at the word 'caravan', I have a romantic and yes, okay, I admit, a nostalgic view of 'those types of holidays'.

Once we'd decided we didn't want to venture any further than a 3 hour drive away from home (mainly to make life easier on us when it came to the Little One's bottle feeds) and after noticing a very good deal online, we were off, off and away to Sundrum Castle in Ayr.

There isn't much information to be found on Sundum Castle holiday park and I guess that's because there's nothing more to say about it other than what's advertised on the company website.  The park is situated in countryside a couple of miles east of Ayr and it's, well, full of caravans.

(Oh I do like to state the obvious!)

On our first morning we woke up to glorious sunshine and decided to make the most of the weather and venture north to take the short journey on the ferry over to the island of Cumbrae.  A first for all 3 of us and the first time on a ferry for the Little One (it may have only been a 10 minute ferry trip, but it still counts!)

After a bottle feed next to the ferry terminal,

we drove south to Millport where we spent most of the afternoon walking along the esplanade & the harbour and looking around the sea-side resort shops,

but making sure to find time to visit the play park for the Little One to have his first play on swings, which I celebrated by borrowing his hat.  (Seriously, if it had fell off his head one more time....*screams*)

before touring the rest of the island and catching the ferry back to Largs.

Looking towards Bute with Arran in the background

Not the largest of ferries
